In cases involving questions of compulsory treatment, the court assigns a public defender for those who the compulsory care concerns. Public assistance is paid for by the State. The public defender must safeguard his/her client's interests and provide advice and support during the entire process.

The Act regulates compulsory care of young people under 18 and in some cases even up to 20 years of age.

LVM (Law on care of addicts in some cases)
The law allows for closed-compulsory treatment of adult addicts following a decision by the Administrative Court.

LPT (Law on compulsory psychiatric)
The law allows for a person to be admitted to psychiatric treatment against their will.
